The PKC vote on the 17th June confirmed that the funding for the libraries of Perth and Kinross will continue for the foreseeable future. £345k in funds will be distributed to the libraries with, and it is our understanding , the focus will be on the rural libraries.
Not only will the libraries continue “as is” but will become a more integral part of the community. Currently our Library has a weekly discussion group, a monthly ancestry group, a craft group, a Cafe Book session. They have two scheduled talks, one in Sept by a professional gardener and a talk in Oct by one of our local authors. They hope this can become a regular occurrence. The Library Action Group has agreed not to anticipate what the new funding will mean to the local library in Auchterarder until they have had the talks with CPK which were scheduled for the 1st of July. The Auchterarder Library Action Group welcomed the PKC discussions on the tourist tax , as a way of funding more activities within the communities. They are encouraged that these discussions are ongoing.
