** Date for the diary: 14th January 2025 – 7pm. Pavilion in the Park. Are you interested in being part of the group taking this forward? Join us!**
Background to the Project:
The subject of future use of the site came to the attention of the community during the Community Action Plan Consultation (November 2021 – February 2022) and also when the “Auchterarder Lifetime Neighbourhood” consultation was held in April 2022 by Anderson Bell & Christie Architects.
The Community were, and still are, supportive of retaining this green space as an area for recreational use, being against the proposal to build new homes in this area, siting concerns about existing broader area infrastructure still lagging behind following growth of 25% in Auchterarder during past decade, concerns about the availability of green space in town and also concerns around safety of increased traffic in this location.
The Auchterarder and Aberuthven Community Action Plan (CAP) has Kincardine Park named as a specific action within Theme 4: Environment and a greener community PRIORITY 2 – Improve and expand community greenspaces and woodland areas as a reflection of the community views submitted during the consultation. The CAP reflects the views of interviews with 47 community groups, 751 survey responses, and 2 community futures open days. Auchterarder Community Council drafted a response to the proposal (attached in appendix) and the local councillors have stated their support for this area of land being retained as community green space.
Community Meeting November 24:
During a Community Meeting held on the 26th of November 2024, a presentation was shared detailing the progress made by ACSR Green Spaces and Community Action Plan Trustees in exploring the Community Asset Transfer process
“Community Asset Transfer is an established mechanism used to enable the community ownership and management of publicly owned land and buildings“
During the meeting, we were joined by PKC officers from Housing and Communities. Plans were shared detailing the desire to build 100 houses on the site in 2029/2030
Presentation made by A&A Connected
Presentation made by PKC – Once this is received, we will share this here.
Whats Next?
Following the presentations, members of the community present, around 60 people, voted on the following options:
1. Do nothing
2. Proceed with the Community Asset Transfer Approach
3. Wait and engage with PKC regarding their proposal for the housing
A significant majority voted for option 2.
Since the meeting, a number of people have been in touch to confirm their interest in being part of the group taking this forward.
First Meeting will be held on the 14th of January at 7pm in the Pavilion. If you’d like to be a part of the working group, you’re very welcome to attend. The aim of this meeting is to bring people up to date on the detail of what’s happened so far and to explore next steps, to understand how people can be involved going forward and perhaps most importantly, establish a quick and easy way to stay in touch with each other.
