You may not know this but the sports facilities at the Community School of Auchterarder are also
open to the community outwith school hours and throughout the summer holidays. A charity, the
Auchterarder & District Community Sports Hub was created 2 years ago to operate it on behalf of the
community and whilst the astroturf was open through most of the winter, the indoor facilities only
reopened to everyone on the 16th May 2022.
We now employ 3 members of staff – duty manager Victoria Bond and 2 leisure assistants Ruby and
Frazer.
We have a sports hall with 5 courts and all the equipment suitable for badminton, short tennis,
volleyball, basketball, table tennis and 5-aside football to name but a few along with a fully
functioning gym with treadmills, cable pulldown machines, elipticals, spinning bikes and a variety of
free weights. There is also the full size astroturf and hopefully in the not too distant future, 2
external multi use game areas which need a bit of TLC to be fit for use and we are working with PKC
to achieve that. We are open Mon to Thu 6 to 9pm and Sat morning 9 to 12 so come along and see
what we have to offer! Enquiries and bookings can be made via adcshbookings@gmail.com and
keep an eye on our facebook page and instagram for updates.
Given our situation of trying to open in the summer after a global pandemic, we are immensely
grateful to three local charities, Friends of St Margaret’s, Auchterarder & District Community Trust
and the Auchterarder Common Good Fund for their financial support. We really wouldn’t have been
able to do this without them! Thank you also to the local community who continued to encourage us
to reopen the Sports Hub.
Initial uptake has been encouraging but we do need some more support from the community to
keep financially viable and continue to grow. We have many ideas to develop sport and participation
in the community (all ages and demographics) and are looking at supporting initiatives already with
other organisations. If you are interested in becoming more involved, we would love to hear from
you, especially more Trustees as we navigate forward. If you’re interested, send us an email and
we’d be happy to chat.
