Future of the Auchterarder Library:
PK Culture hosted a meeting in the Aytoun Hall last week and shared the information that there is not capacity in their next budget to keep the libraries in Auchterarder, Scone, Alyth, Comrie, North Inch and Coupar Angus open.
Possible options discussed include relocating services to a new venue for click-and-collect access or even supporting a community group to take over the library’s operations. Local residents who attended the meeting expressed deep concern, disappointment, and a strong appreciation for the library’s role as a valued community hub.
In other affected areas, some groups are campaigning to save their libraries by reaching out to MSPs, PKC, and PK Culture, while others are focusing on developing community-based solutions. Now, our community must consider which path works best for us.
