Community Council Update

We share updates at the Community Council Meetings so for those who weren’t able to make it along last night, please see below for some news about whats happening:

Community Council Update – September update (for October 3rd)

  1. We’re coordinating a joint Auchterarder community application for a third year of Warm Spaces funding, to build on the success of previous years.

We will advertise all of the free to access, warm spaces where people can travel easily to socialise and perhaps grab a cuppa and a bowl of soup over the winter months and the first sessions are planned to commence on Friday 25th of October.

If any community organisations would like to be included, please do get in touch soon.

    2. Sport and Recreation Facilities: We are delighted to say that PKC have been in touch about taking forward discussions around the developers’ obligations to provide sport and recreation facilities. We have asked information around what’s feasible / timescales etc and have highlighted the importance of whole community involvement in these discussions. We will share news about this as the situation develops.

    3. Communications: We have discussed CAP communications and will be broadening how we share what’s going on.

A monthly “what’s on” containing dates and times of community meetings / community group events and volunteering opportunities will be shared in print in the library, on the Community Council notice board, and on our Website and Facebook.

We’re grateful to Peter Laisen and the Picturehouse Crew for looking after the digital screens. They’re back up and running and if you have news to share, please send it to us.

    4. Maisie the Coo was auctioned last week, in the farewell evening of the Coo trail, and raised £8K. The evening raised over £270K for a wonderful cause and we’re pleased to have been a small part of this.

    5. Police Presence / Behaviour on Campus – Tayside Police shared information via Facebook about antisocial behaviour on the school campus at weekends. It contains useful contact info for the Community Wardens etc – This will be shared in the blog.

    6. Dates for the diary: Auchtober Beer Fest – 26th October 2pm onwards. Tickets are selling well. You’ll find the link on our FB page and also via QR codes on the digital boards and posters around town.

Look out for some exciting updates around Green Spaces projects and the potential of Auchterarder being recognised as a Biodiversity Town!

We also asked for Community Council support around the Banking Hub. We feel that consideration of the banking hub being permanently positioned within the banking hub would make sense and align with the community views shared in the CAP consultation around greater use of the Aytoun Hall.

We also asked for support around Community Council communicating a message about the broad community desire to retain the Library in its current form.
