Community Council Update

This is the update provided to the Community Council Meeting in Feb 2025.

Library – We’re very pleased with the outcome and would like to thank the Councillors for their support with this matter. And their kind words during the budget meeting about the activity in Auchterarder. Their involvement in our community across many areas is very much appreciated. We’re looking to engage with PKC and then PK Culture with the wider SORL group to understand what the expectations and aims are for the community involvement over the next two year funding period.

Kincardine Fields – Second meeting of the Kincardine Fields environment Group happened this week. James Gardner attended and provided a helpful overview of the process involved in CAT. He also mentioned that the Councillors have been working with PKC to explore other areas suitable for housing in Auchterarder. They have confirmed that they will fund 50% of the land valuation.

Next meeting is to be held in the Pavillion on the 25th of March at 7pm.

Biodiversity Project: Tayside Biodiversity secured funding which has enabled Auchterarder to take forward a number of biodiversity projects. Its enabled a number of groups to progress their plans and also enabled a pollinator pathway project, in a partnership with TBD, ACSR Greenspaces and A&A CAP to take place that includes everyone from home owners with individual pots and apple trees, to the bloom group, to Scouts and Brownies to the Allotment group to take part together.

Connected Community event was held at the start of February and was well attended with nearly 40 different community groups. Some great connections were made, music was provided from Men’s Shed and Volunteers supporting the Cosy Spaces project were awarded certificates from PKC. Thank you to everyone who attended. Feedback was positive that this should be an annual event.

Cosy Spaces – Two new sessions have been added to the programme – Community Hub Club the Sports Hub – Saturday and Sunday from Noon-1pm and Family Art Club on the 1st and 29th of March from 10-11.30am. Free to attend for everyone.

GrowBiz are holding a connect and cuppa coffee morning on the 12th of March 10am-Noon. All small business owners are welcome to come find out about the support offered by GrowBiz and network with other businesses in the area. Register via connect@growbiz.co.uk

We’d like to draw peoples attention to the Bloom group AGM happening this Sunday – 2nd of March. 2pm APC Garden Room.
