A&A Connected – Keeping Our Community Connected.
1. Brilliant Connected Community Event.
The Connected Community Event held on the 8th of February was a fantastic morning! We were thrilled to see 36 community groups and 4 support organisations come together and talk to members of the community about their activities. The atmosphere was buzzing, with everyone making new connections and celebrating the wonderful work happening in our town. A huge thank you to Mens Shed for their Ukulele accompaniment and to Perth & Kinross Council (PKC) for celebrating the success of the Cosy Spaces programme which they very kindly fund and the incredible volunteers who make it possible.

2. Library Success & Future Plans
Our Community Action Plan is all about bringing people together around shared passions, and what happened with the library is a brilliant example of this working very well. A huge thank you to the “Save our Auchterarder Library” group who formed to highlight this matter and to every single person who got involved with the campaign, from signing petitions to joining protests. We’re delighted to announce that two years of funding have been secured. We feel this is important recognition of the vital need for the library as a hub within our community. Now, we need your input to shape the library’s future. Look out for upcoming meetings where we’ll discuss ideas. How would YOU like to see our library used?
3. Auchterarder Biodiversity Town Blooms
Our town is becoming a haven for nature, thanks to funding from the Tayside Biodiversity Partnership (TBP) We’ve seen incredible progress, with increased collaboration between groups. Highlights include the “stepping stone” pollinator pathway, new trees being planted in Dunlop Park, the Allotment, and Provost walk, plus a “Bee Bed” at the allotment. This project integrates beautifully across the CAP – linking people together and looking after the precious environment around us . TBP organised a wonderful Gardening for Nature event and have numerous resources to support this area. Want to get involved in green-fingered projects? We can connect you with the groups involved – there’s many and the opportunity to get involved in a way that works for you is easy!

Would you like to be involved in a fun simple project?
Zoom in Project: TBP have a lovely project which would be both fascinating from an individual perspective and also provide us some nice pictures to share about the impact this project has created – The only thing you need to do is make sure you take a photo of the same place at exactly the same spot every 4-6 weeks starting soon. Over a few months – or a year – your photos will become a time lapse record of your favourite tree, pond, or view.

4. Community Asset Transfers – Kincardine Fields

James Gardner from PKC provided valuable insights to the Kincardine Fields Environmental Committee about Community Asset Transfers. The group now has a better understanding of the process. If you’d like to contribute to this important project, please get in touch, and we’ll connect you. Their next meeting is held on the 25th of March, 7pm at the Pavilion.
5. Cosy Spaces
The Cosy Spaces 24-25 period is drawing to a close, and it’s been another resounding success! We’re incredibly grateful to the amazing volunteers who provide a wonderfully warm welcome. We have two additions to the routine programme – Join us at the Sports Hub for activities this Saturday and Sunday, noon-1pm, for the next two weeks. We’re also wrapping up March with a fun family art club on the 29th from 10am-11.30am.
