We were delighted to see the future of the much loved Auchterarder library secured for the next two years.
As we all know, this time will pass quickly!
Within this period, we have a wonderful opportunity to help shape the future of the library – to make it “more”
More for people who currently use it
More to invite people to explore using it more regularly
More for people who’ve not yet accessed its services.
But what does this MORE look like to you?
Culture PK held a community meeting recently and they’re keen to see footfall increase – footfall is one of the easiest ways to measure the impact of us having this valued space.
We already have a broad and varied usage in the library – as well as the books available in the space, it’s really easy to order new ones to click and collect. There’s access to the computers and the tablets, with printing and free wifi. Cafe Books reading group on the first Tuesday of a month. In the summer months, Fresh Friday sees a drop of delicious fresh vegetables from the Parish Church Community Garden – free for everyone! And in the Winter, it provides a valuable Cosy Spaces with free tea coffee and biscuits. There’s always a wealth of community information available too.
All wrapped up with the personal knowledge and care of our amazing librarians.
Would you like to see guest authors? Perhaps a clothes mending session? Digital Skills sessions? A tool / equipment lending hub? Games nights to raise funds for more books? Easier access to the local history information held within the library? A Seed bank exchange?
We’re inviting you to a relaxed session of idea sharing – as nothing sparks an idea better than a conversation!
A&A Connected (Community Action Plan Group) will host a session in the Aytoun Hall. During this session, we’ll share a little information covering where we are to date and then we’ll break into small groups (with a cuppa) to note down ideas.
Don’t underestimate what you could bring – as long as you come with enthusiasm and a positive mind, you’ll enjoy this and be a really welcome part of sharing community voice.
