In this section of the website, you’ll find a summary of the findings in the CAP consultation and information about whats happened since:
Town Parking Survey / Updates to the Rail Network and Bus Links – please see below.
Auchterarder is known affectionately as the “Lang Toon” and, as one survey response commented, “it’s getting longer!” A significant amount
of growth in population has occurred. This has resulted in more people using their cars to come into the town centre to access shops and other services. Initiatives such as the Town Bus, the eBike scheme, and the development of a network of paths all try to encourage more active travel routes and minimise car use in the town. However, there is still a way to go and more could be done to reduce reliance on the car and make our community safer, cleaner and healthier. Safe vehicular access to the A9 in both directions and improved local bus, pedestrian and cycle access to Gleneagles Railway Station were also highlighted as key priorities to ensure we stay connected to the wider road and rail networks
Priorities:
- Make roads and pavements safer
- Improve parking arrangements in Auchterarder
- Look to improve access to, and across, the A9
- Enhance public transport to meet local needs
.

News Update:
TRAIN TRAVEL
The Strathallan Community Rail Partnership do lots of work behind the scenes in their communications with Network Rail – They also create a valuable link with the local Bus Services too. Recently, Scot Rail have announced new timetables making it easier to travel to and from Gleneagles Station. You’ll find details of these in the Community Info section of our website – Please take the time to look at the timetables and explore whether this could now be a convenient option for your travel! If increased usage is noted, the improvements to timetables become even better.
News Update:
PARKING!
The Traffic & Public Transport group have completed a detailed survey of high street parking to understand the problem and explore evidence based solutions.
As well as the direct issues relating to parking space availability, parking has a big impact on road safety and also impacts the ability of people to experience our wonderful high street. Solving the issues has the potential to create really broad benefit to our community.

Progress – What’s been happening since the CAP launched in 2022?

The table below shows progress within the theme – What’s been achieved, What’s work in progress and also the actions yet to start.
Does one of these topics stand out to you? We’d love to hear from you – there’s lots of support to make things happen and thanks to the CAP, you know you have the enthusiasm of the community for progressing this (it also means there’s likely to be many others like you and we can help connect you together)
The Traffic and Public Transport Group are keen to log evidence of whats happening in town and produce a report which would provide evidence based solutions for various elements linking to traffic, parking and transport. If you’d like to bring knowledge or experience to this group you’d be very welcome! Please drop a line to aanda.cap@gmail.com.
Some of the sustainable transport themes straddle into theme 4 – Sustainable community. If you can bring your knowledge or enthusiasm for this area into conversations about solutions relating to this, please contact us too.
