Its not often that we have good opportunities to get some funding secured for community projects with a decent amount of time to spend the award but right now, there are two options available.
The funds would be awarded reasonably soon and the period of spend is about a year.
There is £24K of funding available to Strathallan via Fairer Communities and £16K available via Green Living
A meeting will be held on the 17th of September 6pm-8.30pm in the Pavillion.
- At this meeting, groups are invited to share their ideas – What would you like to do? What would it cost? When would you be able to do this?
- After this meeting, an application would be made (full support available) and voting would then take place at the start of November.
- Funding is being awarded in a manner which recognises community wishes – its a bit different from what’s happened before but presents such a great opportunity for us to take forward the projects we want to do in our area.
But, perhaps because it’s a new approach, only one person attended the last meeting about fairer community funding – If we don’t have any projects for consideration, then it would look like we don’t want to be involved in the decisions about community spend in our area / the money may end up elsewhere.
Whether it’s a project costing a few hundred pounds or one which is significantly bigger, its worth thinking about.
If you are part of a community group, please chat with your friends about what your group could make happen with a bit of funding, it would be such a shame to see this slip by.
More info below:

,
Could you have someone come along to deliver training – first aid? Or is there a community event which you’re holding which could be supported via this fund? This fund could enable it to be run in a way where there is no entry fee, extending the reach of who can come along. Could you explore some dementia friendly aspects in town so people have what they need in our town without having to travel?
Having things / facilities / support / facilities available in our town, this has a really positive impact on reducing cost of living whilst fulfilling a lot of the criteria here.
For the Green Living fund, as you’d imagine, there are the nature-based opportunities and we have so many aspects within the CAP which would benefit from this (please do think about what your group would like to do linked to this – if its community growing, what do you need to make this better? Were your group inspired by the biodiversity projects happening earlier this year and would like to do something to build on this? )but please note that the fund covers aspects such as sustainable transport, recycling and re-use projects. Can it help support biking projects? Training volunteers to support such activities?
Extra information from Communities Team:
Hello
We are pleased to let you know that we are now moving into the collaborative phase of the Fairer Communities for All process.
Communities in each council ward have shared their priorities with us during the engagement phase. Using this feedback, we are now inviting community groups and organisations in the area to come together to explore opportunities for projects that target the Cost of Living.
These projects will be put to a public vote and will be funded through the Community Investment Fund and Participatory Budgeting Funds for 2025/26.
If your group/organisation falls in the Strathallan Ward and you would like to work with others and share your project ideas that meet the criteria above, please join us at the Strathallan ward collaboration meeting on Wednesday the 17th of September 6:00 – 8:30 PM at The Pavillion, Primrose Park Auchterarder.
Please see link below to register.
