This Saturday 5th July is National Meadows Day.
Wildflower meadows are amongst the most threatened wildlife habitats in the country, according to Scottish Wildlife Trust. It is thought that only 10,000 hectares remain – that’s a tiny 0.14% of Scotland’s total land area.
This annual event celebrates and highlights the importance of wild flower meadows and the valuable habitats it provides, even in small gardens. As part of the amazing Biodiversity work that is going on around Auchterarder, an exhibition will be launched at Auchterarder Library on Saturday 5th July between 11.30am and 1pm, running through to 9th July.
Come along on Saturday where you will find out more about the importance of growing native species to encourage wildlife in our gardens and open spaces.
You will also have the opportunity to sow some seeds yourself.
Seeds and material provided for sowing “plug plants” – from 11 till 12.
