Friends of Aytoun Hall
(Registered Scottish Charity No: SCO27157)
Keeping the Heart in our Community
Background. The Friends of Aytoun Hall is a charity limited by guarantee (SC 027157). It was originally set up in the mid-1990s by the Auchterarder & District Community Council as the Auchterarder Leisure & Recreation Association (ALRA) specifically to secure the future of the Aytoun Hall as the primary leisure and recreation venue of the Auchterarder community. With the consent of the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR), in June 2013, at an EGM convened for the purpose, the ALRA changed its name to Friends of Aytoun Hall. All residents living in Postcode PH3 are defacto members of the charity. At its AGM each May/June a Management Committee of up to 12 members of the community are elected. The ‘Friends’ Management Committee meets on a monthly basis in the Aytoun Hall. Members of the public are invited to attend meetings. After a decade of lobbying the Council to refurbish the Aytoun Hall and following its £1.5M refurbishment in 2010, the charity’s revised aims are to represent the Auchterarder Community by providing feedback from users, influence management and suggest enhancements to operating procedures, and to organize fundraising events to raise money for the maintenance and replacement of the furniture owned by the community, but at the same time contributing to improving quality of life in the town.
The Friends of Aytoun Hall Management Committee meets monthly and holds its AGM in May/June, when up to 12 members of the Postcode PH3 community are elected. Members of the public are invited to attend all meetings. The Chairman of the Auchterarder & District Community Council has a standing invitation to sit in committee session. The present Management Committee comprises 10 full members, two co-opted member and one ex-officio member:
Full minutes of each meeting are produced. Once agreed as a true record the minutes are released into the public domain. They are placed in the Auchterarder Library.
Meeting Schedule. All meetings commence at 7.30pm in the Council Chambers in January, March, May, June (AGM), September and November. See annual meeting schedule
