Promote Develop and Support local business
This morning I had a really positive meeting with Visit Scotland, Perth Town and City and the Perthshire Tourism Partnership to explore how we can work with their expertise and marketing reach to support action with the CAP priority above. Their goal is to share the amazing things happening in Scotland in a way that encourages visitors and supports local business. They’ve loads going on and it could be really beneficial for Auchterarder and Aberuthven to link in with this.
You’re bound to have seen their stunning marketing – Christmas gift guides, Scotland’s Year of Stories, Winter Break inspiration, “Things to do when in….” “Meet the indies” features etc with beautiful images and inspiration for visiting new areas.
Wouldn’t it be amazing for Auchterarder and Aberuthven to be featured more often and in different ways?
We don’t have a Local Tourism Association in Strathearn so at present, its down to individual businesses to make themselves known. Our current High Street Survey asks the question of whether a local group can form to share a collective voice –Promoting ourselves with the organisations above could perhaps be done really effectively as a local group?
A few of our local business’ feature in blog listings, sharing that there are great places to come for soup and a sarnie / cocktails etc. Auchterarder and Aberuthven have a small mention in their gift guide but it would certainly be great to see more business’ mentioned.

Information on various campaigns is shared here, along with business support information.
Visit Scotland and Perth Town and City use this to gather information about what’s happening for their blogs and newsletters so if there’s an event happening, listing here is a great way to make it visible.
There are various marketing campaigns – sharing information relating to these would be timely: Visit Scotland’s Marketing Calendar
Get Featured:
Would you like to be featured? Contact them about a blog post – Meet the Indies has been a well-received campaign and they’re always looking for stories.
If we have enough business’ listed, theres potential that they may run a blog about “Eateries in Auchterarder and Aberuthven” or “Lunch and an mooch around the independent langtoun shops” or bigger coverage in “South Perthshire Gift Guide” etc
If you get listed, let me know – I’ll collate the info and will keep in regular contact with the people I met this morning. Any questions please ask! aanda.cap@gmail.com
