Lots of lovely Christmas activities have been happening in the Aberuthven Hall – thought it would be nice to share their news and pictures for those not on Facebook:
First update is about their Pensioners Christmas Lunch
“It is definitely beginning to feel a bit like Christmas in Aberuthven as we kicked off our festivities with our traditional Pensioners Christmas Lunch on Thursday the 1st December. It was a most enjoyable afternoon with good food, entertainment and friendship all round with 33 people having lunch, catered by Gourlay’s, and 43 Cosy Home packs (including the now traditional bag of tatties) distributed.
A big thank you to those who participate with out you there would be no event, to all the helpers on the day, to the Rev Sandy Gunn from Aberuthven Church for saying grace, to Nicola Tyrrell Head Teacher all the staff and amazing pupils of Aberuthven Primary School for providing the entertainment so professionally and to the children and staff of Doodlebugs Nursery for their great singing which we all enjoyed so much, to the Young People and leaders of Aberuthven Youth Club who decorated the christmas tree and created the designer original gift bags for the cosy homes packs. Thank you to the following businesses in the village who provided gifts for the raffle Matthew Aitken (also for the tatties), Hadden, Blackhills, Smiddy Haugh and The Wee Shop and Deli. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Auchterarder for their donation.
Thank you to the hall committee for all the work behind the scenes and also to Perth & Kinross Council for the grant funding of this event via the Cost of Living Fund the also funded the provision of the Cosy Home packs distributed on the day.
We know it is not a numbers thing but as a small village it is good to know that upwards of 100 people either contributed or were part of this event and that does not count everyone who helped us fundraise for all hall projects over 2022 thank you everyone for making this truly a village event. As we have said before at other events the feel good for a small village is priceless. Well done Aberuthven”
Next event was their Youth Club Christmas Party!
“It is definitely Christmas in Aberuthven now as we continue our events with the first Youth Club Christmas Party since 2019!
A great time was had by all and it was definitely well earned. Not only has a lot of fun been had on a Wednesday evening but this team have taken part in the YMCA Y-games, some attended the Alton Towers trip with other YMCA groups and they have worked hard in their community helping create our Digital Inclusion Grant application, providing pizza in the park at the Jubilee party, creating poppy stones, laying the wreath at Remembrance day and helping out with the refreshments in the hall. They also decorated the village hall Christmas tree beautifully and worked hard on designing 43 goodie bags for the pensioners Christmas lunch. Some of the pictures show the team testing out the virtual reality headsets & Nintendo switch all part of the Digital Inclusion grant.
A big thanks to Lynn Miller from the Village Hall Committee, Franny McGrath and the YMCA team for all their hard work, to all the parents who support the club and to everyone who has helped raise funds and bake cakes. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting news coming shortly as this team goes from strength to strength”
